Phillie Phanatic Helps GFS Celebrate Jesse Biddle!


GFS sent out a big Tigers roar when the Phillie Phanatic worked the crowd at a pep rally honoring Jesse Biddle.   Jesse was drafted by the Phillies in the first round of the MLB draft on June 7.  Read more about his "dream come true!"
 
Greek Day 2010 (or MMX)


In a decades-long GFS tradition, 3rd and 4th graders who study ancient Greece all year celebrate Greek Day in June at fields.  A procession of athletes, wearing chitons of their own design and carrying city-state banners, was followed by recitations to gods and goddesses for feats of glory.  The judges (who looked remarkably like PE teachers), also wearing chitons, pledged not to take bribes.  Then, the Olympic-style games began!  At mid-day, athletes and their families enjoyed a traditional Greek feast.
 

Join us for the first ever Lower, Middle, and Upper School Art Show -- followed by the Middle and Upper School Instrumental Concert.
Receptions will be held in the following locations and times:
Lower School: 4-6pm in the Cary Building and Social Room
Middle School: 6-8pm in the Sharpless Building (including the new Middle School art rooms)
Upper School: 6-8pm in the Front Hall and 3rd floor of the Main Building
Refreshments and light repast offered.

7:30 p.m.:  Middle and Upper School Instrumental Concert in the Loeb Center for the Performing Arts:  an evening of orchestral, chamber and jazz music, conducted by Danielle Garrett, including a performance of Pirates of the Caribbean by the Middle and Upper School orchestras.
Come experience the talent and creative energy of all GFS students!

Environmental Design + Construction has selected the GFS science building, designed by SMP Architects, as a Finalist in the Education category for the 2010 ED+C Excellence in Design Award.  The competition recognized select green building projects completed in 2009 which demonstrate outstanding sustainable design techniques.
